Music is the language we all understand and it's our passion and goal to make sure your message is heard. At Milano Music Center, (located in Mesa AZ) we have a variety of musical instruments including ukuleles, guitars, saxophones, and so much more.
Our collection of ukuleles produces the most amazing acoustic sound that any ear will love.
Let's take a tour and see which ukulele you can grab for yourself today.
Acoustic-Electric Ukulele
Commonly known as the EQ, the Acoustic-Electric Ukulele has an electronic pickup within its traditional hollow body. The electric pickup allows the player to use amplifiers so that it can project more.
Additionally, EQ comes with a built-in tuner that makes it suitable for live band performing artists who also like to use the effects pedals. On the contrary, it's not best to use an Acoustic-Electric Ukulele in the studio when recording music.
Baritone Ukulele
The Baritone Ukulele is the most preferred beginner-friendly option due to its ease of use and portability. It has wider space between the strings and it measures about 30inches, which is about the size of an ⅛ of a guitar.
In terms of tuning, the Baritone Ukulele is tuned from low to high tones. That means that its arrangement is DGBE compared to other variables that are tuned to GCEA. Therefore, it produces a strong booming sound instead of the common soprano sound produced by most ukuleles.
The main difference between a baritone ukulele and a guitar is that the baritone ukulele doesn't have the two lowest-pitch strings that guitars have. However, the notes and intervals between strings are similar to those of a guitar.
Bass Ukulele
Small enough to fit in your backpack, the bass ukulele comes in two distinct sizes:
- 30-inches long
- 32-inches long
The 30-inch long bass ukulele plays the EADG but one octave up. The larger version also plays similar notes but at the same octave as a standard bass.
The body of a bass ukulele is either hollow or solid, allowing you to choose between different sounds. The hollow bass ukulele uses piezo pickups while the solid one uses active pickups.
Soprano Ukulele
The Soprano Ukulele is tuned to G/C/E/A. Due to its smaller size, it projects less and has a soft tone.
It has a tight fret spacing and short scale, making it ideal for young children or people with smaller hands and fingers.
Concert Ukulele
The concert Ukulele adopts the standard tuning of G/C/E/A. In terms of size, it's longer, wider, and heavier than the Soprano ukulele. That gives it extra room for more widely spaced frets. It produces a louder mid-range sound because it can project better than the Soprano ukuleles.
The Concert Ukulele works well for both beginners and experienced players. And if you've got bigger fingers and hands, it will feel like the perfect size for you.
Tenor Ukulele
The tenor ukulele is 2 inches longer than the concert ukulele and is tuned to G/C/E/A.
It has a wider neck and widely spaced frets that make it perfect for fingerpicking. The wide size gives it better projection, making it produce a loud, deep bass-y tone.
Similar to the concert ukulele, a tenor ukulele is comfortable for people with wide hands and fingers. But the improved projections make it a popular option for professional musicians.
Ukulele Strings & Accessories
Whether you are a beginner or a professional performer, you'll find the perfect string option from our ukulele shop.
We have something for everyone. The double bass, for instance, is excellent for professional performers due to its ability to blend into any music genre. The viola, on the other hand, has a warm classical sound and is easier to learn compared to the violin.
For those looking for pocket-friendly options, we have used demo strings. Although they are used, our technician inspects, refurbishes, and rehabilitates them to make sure they work effectively. We also have accessories such as bridges, bows, pickups, rosin, and shoulder rests.
